President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Inspects SARBOT L1 at EFES 2026

SARSILMAZ, one of Türkiye’s leading defence industry companies, hosted a high-level visit during Exercise EFES 2026. President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited the SARSILMAZ stand, where he inspected SARBOT L1, Türkiye’s first domestically developed armed legged robot, and signed the platform.

The attention shown to SARBOT L1, which reflects Türkiye’s advanced defence engineering capabilities and indigenous production capacity, underscored the technological maturity achieved by the Turkish defence industry. President Erdoğan’s visit was also regarded as a strong demonstration of the strategic support extended to indigenous and nationally developed defence technologies.

Developed by LA2 Dynamics, a SARSILMAZ Group company, SARBOT L1 stands out with its advanced mobility, remote-command architecture and integrated weapon systems. The platform ranks among Türkiye’s prominent projects translating next-generation defence engineering capabilities into operational applications.

About LA2 Dynamics SARBOT L1

Compared with its predecessor, SARBOT L1 has been substantially enhanced with a larger platform architecture, a payload capacity of 15 kilograms, an operational endurance of 80 minutes and a hot-swappable battery system.

The platform is capable of negotiating obstacles measuring between 200 and 220 millimetres and climbing gradients of up to 30 degrees, enabling effective mobility across demanding terrain. Advanced control algorithms further enhance its balance, stability and manoeuvrability.

LIDAR- and SLAM-based navigation enables high-accuracy localisation and autonomous mobility even in GPS-denied environments. Advanced sensors, AI-assisted target recognition and a thermal-plus-zoom electro-optical system further improve operational effectiveness.

The platform’s performance and safety have been comprehensively strengthened through a stabilised firing platform, AI-assisted fire-control capabilities and multiple safety layers, including fail-safe functions, automatic standstill and emergency-stop mechanisms.
